All time trials start at 6:30 pm sharp, participants are advised to show up at least 15 minutes in advance of the start time. Riders are sent off at 30-second intervals. You are riding individually, against the clock. Points are awarded in male and female categories: 10 for first place, 9 for second, etc. down to 1.
We need volunteers for each time-trial. When you volunteer you will receive points towards the championship. For more information or to volunteer to time, contact Ann Seifert at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If a week is skipped due to inclement weather, please note the next week will pick up on previously scheduled course (meaning we won’t make up a skipped course).
Valley Time Trial
The course is a flat, out-and-back 6-mile course. The Valley starting line is on the frontage road, a half-mile north of Sierra and adjacent to I-15. Due to safety concerns, all vehicles other than the timer’s should park at the Rossiter Elementary School parking lot on Sierra. A map of Rossiter Elementary School is provided here.
Hill Time Trial
The course is approximately 4 miles. The starting line is across from the Lewis and Clark Library on Park Avenue in Downtown Helena, and ends at the top of the hill in Unionville. Meet at the parking lot across (east) from Lewis & Clark Library. A map of Lewis and Clark Library is provided here.
This is a newer ride; mileage is about 11 miles, out and back. Terrain is basically flat, with a small rise before the turnaround. The start is on the I-15 frontage road (Hwy 282) about 1 mile south of Clancy interchange. Park at The Legal Tender restaurant just off the Clancy exit if driving out.
This is a point-to-point ride (with an easy return to your vehicle if you drive out), 6.2 miles, with flat, rollers, and one good climb. The start is at the historic sod house on north end of Hwy 518 – turn right at light at east end of East Helena, the sod house is immediately on your left. Parking is available there if driving out.
Cross or mountain bike; same start location as for the Hill time trial course. This was new in 2014 and was well liked. About 6.3 miles. Except for the start, it’s all dirt road and a mix of flat and climbing.
